About STC
Sail-the-Channel came into existence in a round-about fashion. Come to think of it, it’s been a lot like cruising. The decisions that are shaping our course have a lot to do with which way the wind’s blowing. Our overall aim is pretty simple—having recently completed six years of world cruising, we are looking for a way to keep messin’ around in boats.
First, we began by getting involved in teaching sailing. Even now, I enjoy teaching ASA sailing classes as well as private cruising classes aboard Songline. Monica joins me in teaching most of the private classes.
Second, our efforts have evolved and expanded toward developing instructional products (my shoreside profession) with the intention of reaching out to larger audiences about the profound rewards of sailing. In doing so, we’ve been drawing not only on our own experience, but also the knowledge and skill of our many sailing friends.
Third, with the release of our “Around Santa Cruz Island” DVD, we have been blown toward the Internet, in order to promote and sell our first product. But it has quickly become apparent that the Internet provides much more than an opportunity to sell things. It is also a way to reach out to others who share our love of the sea and sailing.
So where will the winds blow us and what will come of our efforts? There’s no telling for certain. But that’s what the journey is all about. That’s our Songline.
If you share our feelings about the sea, sailing, and voyaging, help us out by linking to our site, signing-up as site subscribers, leaving comments, submitting articles… Oh yeah, and by buying a copy of our first DVD production.
Here’s to keeping the wind abaft your beam!
