NOAA’s Chart 1 provides  a complete explanation of all symbols, abbreviations, and conventions used in NOAA charts. It is the key to reading all NOAA charts and makes interesting browsing for mariners ashore and afloat. As is the case with all NOAA products, it is in the public domain. Printed and bound copies can be ordered for a fee from several Websites, or you can download it in .PDF format here.
