Work on “Around Monterey Bay” has been going slowly but steadily during the 2007 holiday season. In some ways the Monterey Bay is a more difficult subject than Santa Cruz Island. The bay is not generally regarded as a cruising venue, but for the capable and adventureous sailor, it has a great deal to offer from the standpoint of natural beauty, wildlife, and open-water sailing. My biggest problem is sorting out the storyline. Is it a sailing/travelogue DVD or a travelogue/sailing DVD? This clip is my first try at weaving some of the footage into an interesting product. If you have any ideas about where the emphasis should lie, let me know!

It seems that every year around late September or early October there comes a perfect evening in Santa Cruz, California. It’s Indian summer. A balmy breeze blows along the shoreline. The full moon rises with the setting sun. Locals beat a path to the sea and in a bacchanal display of raw pleasure, revel in the perfect moment.

Monica's Excellent Adventure
