Fresh Video Clip - Sailing on Monterey Bay
It’s been a while since my last Sail the Channel entry. My excuse? I’ve been messing around in boats almost non-stop during the past few months. After my excursions in the Caribbean, I found myself committed to quite a few classes on the Monterey Bay. I also spent about three weeks on a mini-refit for Songline. Now she has a brand new bottom, all new standing rigging, and lots of minor gel coat repairs.

I’m currently fully involved in editing the Around Monterey Bay video on my new Mac system. It’s coming together nicely, but as is always true of these things, there’s always more to do. I hope to have the completed DVD done in about a month.
Meanwhile, Tory of TheSailingChannel.tv has picked up Around Santa Cruz Island and is featuring it on his Website. As a sailor and experienced movie maker, his encouragement has been invaluable as I move forward with new projects.
About a week ago Nathan called me and asked if I would do a heavy weather sailing class with him. I figured it was time to stretch out the new rigging, so we met up to do some sailing on a typical Montery Bay summer afternoon. We weren’t disappointed! Our reef line parted a few hours into our beat up the coast. Other than that, Nathan and I had no complaints.
Here’s a short video clip I shot using Sail the Channel’s new HD camera. I got my new camera’s lens all wet!

Capt. Marc, veteran of multiple ocean crossings, offshore and one-design racer, and instructional pro, invites you to join him for lessons and/or excursions under sail.
